ACCOUNTABILITY AGREEMENT

We strive for that everyone may feel equally entitled to take up space to explore and at the same time feel a mutual care for one other’s exploration by active listening, understanding and giving space for others. By participating at an event, you and Wonderlust form an agreement to ensure our space feels more free and safer for us all. It bases on the principles of respect, inclusiveness regardless of gender or sexual orientation, and non-patriarchy as we consider these concepts essential for a healthy, diverse sexual culture.

General Etiquette

We communicate in an open way and by active listening.

We approach every situation with an open mind and free of judgment.

We never assume, most importantly others gender, other identities or preferences.

We know that everyone’s personal boundaries are in different places and others’ lives and histories outside are different to our own. We mind how much space we take to ensure equal opportunity for learning, participation and enjoyment.

Let’s be ready to own how we act and how we speak.

This is accountability.

When challenged, each of us should be ready to take on board others’ points of view, be responsible for our actions and make amends in the ways that are asked of us.

Safe – sane – consensual sex

As the event is designed for adults every participant complies to mental, physical and emotional self-responsibility and consideration. All sexual interactions should be held on the three basic principles of

  • safe: attempts should be made to identify and prevent risks to health

In all of the exercises, we encourage and provide you with information to carry out safe practice. If we observe unsafe practice we will invite you to amend your practice safely.

  • sane: activities should be undertaken in a sane and sensible frame of mind

Participation to workshops under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not permitted.

  • consensual: all activities should involve the full consent of all parties involved

Consent is a ‘yes’ that is enthusiastic; everything else is a ‘no’. If another participant declines an invitation to participate with you in any way, repeated requests are a violation of their consent and stated boundaries.

If not adhered to you will be asked to leave the event. It is your personal responsibility to ensure your safety throughout attending an event; Wonderlust can’t take any responsibility for you. If you have any questions please contact us for advice.

Personal Space and Boundaries

You are always free to choose whether to participate in any exercise.

Asking is the only way to find out other peoples’ gender identity or sexual preferences and desires.

We expect that every Wonderlust participant’s personal space, agency and activities will be respected at all times. Boundaries are different for each person and thus any approach requires asking, communicating and active listening. Without the permission of the players do not interfere in any play or touch any equipment that is not your own.

If you wish to watch play, keep a respectful and safe distance from the players.

Respect, Discussion and Listening

We are committed to amplifying voices of people whose experiences and opinions are all-too-often not expressed or thought equal of outside this space. Thus we stay mindful of how much space we take up, both bodies and voices, and of how we act or speak is affecting other people around us. If an issue discussed is outside of your own personal experience rather listen and learn from the discussion instead of speaking.

Sexist, homophobic, transphobic, racist, ableist and sex worker- phobic language or behaviour will not be tolerated at Wonderlust.

Some people are more affected by certain issues than others. “Calling people out”  can be heavy for those personally affected by oppressive actions – in this case inform the festival organisers who will address the person.

Trust and Confidentiality

We will treat all personal information about you as confidential, including the fact that you attended an event.

Participants comply not to disclose content of conversations or the identities of participants of workshops to other participants or outside the event. Participants agree not to take photographs or record any events.

Support

If you need immediate help, support or advice during an event, turn to a member of the Wonderlust team.

What to do if the Accountability Agreement is not respected

If you feel that someone is breaking their Accountability Agreement in any way, please point it out to them, if you feel comfortable doing so. If it doesn’t seem possible to stop them, then talk to one of the event organisers.

We reserve the right to ask a participant to leave the event immediately if we believe that an agreement violation has occurred, or if we consider that they are a threat to the well-being of other participants. In that case, no refund will be offered.

We reserve the right to refuse the registration to the festival of anyone who has broken the agreement in a previous event, even if they have already paid. In that case, a full refund will be offered.

The rules are partially compiled and complemented from the ones used at DIY Space for London, Sacred Pleasures London, Xplore Festival Berlin and OpenCon Catalonia.

If you’d like to raise any issue at all feel free to email us info@wonderlust.fi

Wonderlust does not approve the selling of sexual services or sexual relations in exchange of payment in any of the festival events.
